The violet color of the amethyst derives from the presence of iron oxide in its crystal quartz. Its Greek name means “it doesn’t get drunk”. Indeed in ancient times it was believed that its physiological virtues could heal the alcoholics or could prevent the drinkers from getting drunk. According to the ancients, it could heal eyes disorders and headaches, it had a calming and reassuring power, it gave a good moral and energetic balance.
